AIPMT Judgment: Tanvi Sarwal v. Central Board of Secondary Education, Supreme Court Judgment, 15 June 2015.

On the previous date (12 June), the Supreme Court had observed that the examination is vitiated even if one student is being benefited illegally. The Court had also said that taking into consideration the past such incidents, CBSE ought to have been more alert about these things and that these things had been happening for last two-three years. The Court had also said that the sanctity of the All India Pre-Medical Test for admission to MBBS seats cannot be sacrificed. The Supreme Court further told the CBSE that it (CBSE) has  failed and its process is outdated.

This order was passed by the Supreme Court in the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) paper leak case in which 3 writ petitions had been filed as under:

  • W.P.(C) NO. 298/2015 [Tanvi Sarwal vs. Central Board Of Secondary Education And Ors.]

  • W.P.(C) NO. 305/2015 [Adeeba Ahmed vs. Union of India & Ors.]

The Supreme Court had issued notice in this matter, as reported earlier, on 18 May 2015, seeking cancellation of the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) that was conducted on 3 May 2015 over allegations that its paper was leaked in Haryana. Subsequently, the Supreme Court had directed the Haryana Police to identify beneficiaries of the AIPMT paper leak. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSC) which conducted the AIPMT Examination was to declare the result which was to be hosted on website http://aipmt.nic.in/aipmt/Welcome.aspx.
