Inclusion of Aadhaar (Unique Identification) Number in Service Books of Government Servants

Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Department of Personnel & Training, has directed that the Aadhaar Number of every Government servant should be mentioned his service book. Previously, orders to this effect were issued by the DOPT vide Office Memorandum No.Z-20025/9/2014-Estt.(AL) on 03.11.2014 (see here).

Now, a fresh O.M. dated 20.05.2015 has been issued by the DOPT asking all Ministries/Departments of the Government of India to intimate action taken in this regard and also the number of employees whose service books have been seeded with their respective Aadhaar number (see here).

So, over a period of time, Aadhaar Number is becoming ubiquitous, as a unique identification mechanism for the citizens of India.
