Bar Council of India has announced that the 9th All India Bar Examination (AIBE) will tentatively be held on 13th December 2015. A notification vide No. AIBE/WS/065 dated 31st August 2015 has been issued today for this purpose.
However, this date is only tentative and it has been mentioned specifically in the notification itself. Bar Council of India has the record of changing the AIBE dates in the past. It has also been mentioned that online applications for this examination will be started soon, though no date has been specified for this purpose. Instead, it has been advised that the website (http://www.allindiabarexamination.com/) may be checked for further updates in this regard.
It is noteworthy that AIBE is conducted by the Bar Council of India to test the basic skills of young lawyers to practice law profession in India. Without passing the AIBE, a lawyer is not entitled to get “Certificate of Practice” and cannot thus practice law, though about six months’ initial grace period is allowed to pass this examination after registration / enrolment as an advocate.
