Justice Dhirendra Hiralal Waghela is the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court

Justice Dhirendra Hiralal Waghela has taken oath today (4 June 2015) as the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. Governor S.C. Jamir administered him the oath in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, other ministers and officials at Cuttack. Justice D.H. Waghela was previously working as Chief Justice of the Karnataka high court since March 2013. The President had transferred him from Karnataka to the Orissa High court after consultation with the Chief Justice of India as per a notification issued from Rashtrapati Bhawan on 14 April, 2015 and he was asked to assume new office within two months. Prior to this, Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty was the Acting Chief Justice of Orissa High Court.

Justice D.H. Waghela was born on 11.08.1954 at Rajkot. He was appointed as Additional Judge of the Gujarat High Court on 17th September, 1999. He was elevated as the Chief Justice, High Court of Karnataka in March, 2013. On his transfer, he has now taken oath as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court on the 4th day of June 2015.
